How did you get into the industry? What is the ‘We Do Wood’ story?
We Do Wood was born out of a shared passion for design, sustainability, and craftsmanship. Our journey started when we noticed a gap in the market for high-quality, eco-friendly furniture that didn’t compromise on style. With backgrounds in woodworking and sales, we set out to create a brand that could combine the clean lines of Scandinavian design with a strong commitment to sustainability. From the beginning, our mission was to use responsibly sourced materials and innovative production techniques to create furniture that not only looks beautiful but also respects the environment.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?
What I enjoy most is the process of turning an idea into a tangible product that people can bring into their homes and lives. Seeing our designs come to life, knowing they are made from sustainable materials and will stand the test of time, is incredibly rewarding. It’s also fulfilling to work with a team that shares the same values and passion for design and the environment. Each piece we create is a testament to our belief that good design can and should be sustainable.
How do you approach the balance between form and function?
In Scandinavian design, form and function are two sides of the same coin. We believe that a piece should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. When designing, we always start by understanding the needs and challenges of the space or the user. Then, we explore how we can meet those needs in a way that is both practical and beautiful. It’s about finding that sweet spot where simplicity meets utility, and where every detail serves a purpose.
What inspires and influences you?
We draw a lot of inspiration from nature, particularly the forests of Scandinavia, where we source our materials. The natural world offers endless inspiration in terms of color, texture, and form. We’re also influenced by the timeless principles of Scandinavian design—simplicity, functionality, and respect for materials. Additionally, the growing movement towards sustainability and responsible consumption deeply influences our work. We’re inspired by the idea that design can drive change and make a positive impact on the world.
What do you think makes Scandinavian design so popular?
Scandinavian design resonates with so many people because it embodies simplicity, functionality, and a deep connection to nature. Its clean lines and minimalism create a sense of calm and order, which is something many people crave in their busy lives. Additionally, the focus on quality and craftsmanship means that Scandinavian design often feels timeless and enduring. In a world where trends come and go, the honesty and authenticity of Scandinavian design stand out.

How do you approach sustainability and environmentally responsible design?
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at We Do Wood. We approach design with a mindset that considers the full lifecycle of a product—from the sourcing of materials to the end of its use. We use FSC-certified wood, which ensures that the materials come from responsibly managed forests. We also focus on creating designs that are durable and timeless, reducing the need for frequent replacement. Our production processes are designed to minimize waste, and we continuously explore new ways to lessen our environmental footprint.
What does a typical day in the studio look like?
A typical day in the studio is a blend of creativity and collaboration. Mornings often start with a team meeting to discuss ongoing projects and brainstorm new ideas. Then, we move into the hands-on work—sketching designs, refining prototypes, and selecting materials. There’s a lot of back-and-forth as we test ideas and make adjustments. The atmosphere is one of focused creativity, where every detail is considered, from the grain of the wood to the curve of a chair leg. We also spend time communicating with our suppliers and partners to ensure that every aspect of our production aligns with our sustainability goals.
What makes We Do Wood different from the other Scandinavian brands out there?
What sets We Do Wood apart is our unwavering commitment to sustainability without compromising on design. While many Scandinavian brands focus on aesthetics, we place equal importance on the environmental impact of our products. Every decision we make, from the materials we choose to the way we produce and package our furniture, is guided by our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. We’re not just creating beautiful furniture; we’re also working to create a more sustainable future.

What does your home look like?
My home reflects the same values that guide We Do Wood—simplicity, functionality, and a connection to nature. I prefer a minimalist aesthetic, with clean lines and natural materials taking center stage. I like to create spaces that are calm and uncluttered, with a few well-chosen pieces that serve both a practical and an aesthetic purpose. There’s a lot of wood in my home, complemented by soft textiles and neutral tones that create warmth and coziness. I believe in surrounding myself with items that have meaning and purpose, rather than following fleeting trends.
What’s next for We Do Wood - Any exciting plans for the year ahead?
We have some exciting plans in the pipeline for the coming year. We’re working on expanding our product line with new designs that continue to push the boundaries of sustainable furniture. We’re also exploring new materials and technologies that can help us further reduce our environmental impact. Additionally, we’re planning to strengthen our presence in international markets, bringing our sustainable designs to more homes around the world. As always, our focus remains on creating beautiful, functional furniture that aligns with our values of sustainability and craftsmanship.
